Life is full of challenges, and Christians are not exempt.
God offers us salvation in the form of his son Jesus, but He never promises us that life will be easy. But there is hope!

While the Bible speaks of hardship, it also promises us VICTORY and ABUNDANCE.

John 10:10 says: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

In the book of Jeremiah, we read: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (29:11)

We know that God’s people go through CHALLENGING TIMES, and in spite of that, He RESTORES us and puts our feet upon a rock. “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” (Joel 2:25).

Therefore, we can live in victory as a NEW CREATION! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Even though we know the truth of God’s word, we often get STUCK in various areas of our lives due to past HURTS, HABITS, and HANG-UPS.

HURTS

Hurting people, hurt people.

HABITS

We find ways to make ourselves feel better from our hurt, away from God.

HANG-UPS

We reject and hurt others, including our own loved ones, because of our past wounding.

How Do We Overcome This?

The approach at Northern Virginia Christian Counseling integrates what the Bible says about WHO we are with what psychology tells about WHY we behave, feel, and do what we do.

If we believe that God is the author of all truth, we can use both God’s word and God’s works (i.e., psychology) to help us heal, grow, and overcome any obstacle in our path. Because it says in Philippians 4:13: “I can do ALL things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”
